Buckle Buddy Program

Motorists are encouraged to anonymously report unbuckled children.  They can call the Be A Buckle Buddy hotline at 1-888-800-2642.  Reported drivers will receive a letter and information regarding child passenger safety laws.  The hotline is an unique opportunity for several community organizations to pool resources to save lives.

How the program works:  A person sees an unbuckled child in the vehicle.  They call the hotline number and leave a message which gives license plate number, vehicle description, city and date.  Hotline representatives listen to the messages and record only pertinent information.  Hotline representative faxes the vehicle information to law enforcement agencies.  Law enforcement representatives look up the vehicle owner information.  Law enforcement sends letter and child passenger safety information to the registered owner of the vehicle transporting the unbuckled child.
